To grow up in a strictly conservative community is to live in a cage that feels exactly like a prison. From a young age, I was denied the basic freedom of self-expression; I couldn’t even choose what to wear without first seeking and receiving explicit approval. This was a coordinated, systemic oppression enforced by a unified front of men, parents, and teachers. Under their watch, I was taught that as a woman, my only role was to be an obedient follower with no right to dictate my own path.

Yet, surviving that environment taught me a vital lesson: compliance will never earn you autonomy. Freedom is not something that is graciously given to you; it is something you must stand up and take for yourself.
